Thanks for choosing us for your extensions! We’re so excited for you to enjoy your new hair. This guide covers the basics of extension care, daily styling, and the key things you need to know to get the most out of your wefts. With the right routine, your hair will stay looking beautiful, healthy, and effortless—let’s get you set up for success!
What Are Wefts?
- A weft is a track of hair added to your natural hair for length and/or fullness.
- Microbeads are the tiny attachment points that secure the weft to your natural hair.
- This method is flexible, works well for most guests, and is one of the most affordable options because installs and removals are efficient.
Maintenance Schedule
Most clients need a tightening every 5–8 weeks, depending on hair type and lifestyle.
- Oily scalps, heavy sweaters, or fine/delicate hair → usually 5 weeks
- Drier or thicker hair → closer to 8 weeks
Each appointment includes:
- Full removal of all beads
- Fresh bead installation
Important:
- Standard tightenings are done dry—please arrive with clean, dry hair unless you booked a wash.
- We do not “slide up” beads; this is a temporary fix and not proper maintenance.
Before appointments:
- Arrive with clean, dry hair
- Avoid heavy oils, root conditioners, or anything slippery
- Brush thoroughly
Daily Care + Styling
Your daily habits have the biggest impact on blend, comfort, and longevity.
Brushing
- Use a soft-bristle or extension-safe brush (recommended options linked at the end)
- Support the weft with your hand while brushing
- Brush:MorningNightBefore washing
- Routinely feel around the track (especially the back center) to check for matting
Washing
- Wash only when necessary (ideal = 2× per week)
- If you normally wash more often, use dry shampoo or do a top-only wash
- Always detangle before washing
- Use recommended shampoo + conditioner
- Keep conditioner/masks off the roots and beads
- While shampooing, gently separate rows with your fingers to wash between them
- Rinse thoroughly—water should reach the track to prevent buildup and irritation
Drying
- Blow-dry the roots every wash (non-negotiable)
- Mids/ends may air-dry, but blow-drying extends your extension’s lifespan
- Water left in the hair causes swelling and weakening
- Blonde and brown wefts are more fragile due to processing—proper drying helps protect them
Sleeping
- Wear a low, loose braid or ponytail
- Use a silk or satin pillowcase (linked below)
Daily Styling Expectations
- Extensions do not automatically blend—expect some daily styling
- The closer your natural hair is to the extension length, the easier the blend
- Some previous hairstyles may no longer be possible depending on weft placementYour stylist will guide you based on your install
What to Expect (Normal)
1. The First 1–2 Weeks
- Wefts may “drop” slightly as they settle
- A small amount of relaxation is normal—especially if you’re new to extensions
2. Lifespan of Extension Hair
With proper care:
- Blonde wefts: 6 months
- Darker colors: often longer
Longevity improves with:
- Blow-drying each wash
- Using only recommended products
- Avoiding matting
- Avoiding pools, hot tubs, and salt water
- Using low heat or heatless styles
- Washing 2× per week or less
- Never lightening or bleaching extensions
- Only using deposit-only color applied by your stylist
3. When It’s Time to Replace Wefts
Extensions naturally shed, thin, and shorten over time. You’ll know it’s time to replace when:
- The hair has shortened more than you’d like
- The weft no longer matches your desired fullness
- Tangling becomes frequent despite proper care
Every weft is made from human hair—variations in texture, density, and behavior are normal.
What’s NOT Normal (Signs Something Is Wrong)
1. Corners Flipping Out
- Usually means the edges need a quick adjustment
2. Burning, Bleeding, or Severe Itching
Possible causes:
- Metal sensitivity to the beads
- Dye allergy in the weft
- Shampoo residue at the scalp
Try rinsing thoroughly—if symptoms persist, contact us immediately.
3. Extensions Feel Extremely Tight
- Mild snugness for 24–48 hours is normal
- Pain, headaches, or extreme tightness is not normal and may cause damage
- Contact us for adjustment
